Metabolism matters

Metabolic performance is metabolic health.

We measure your potential — and then close the gap.

Metabolism matters

95% of the metabolic health conversation is about not being sick.

Disease etiology. . . Disease treatment. . . Disease prevention. . . . ‘Metabolically healthy’ defined as a sedentary body without symptoms or precursors of disease.

That is a floor, not a ceiling.

Which is why we approach things differently . . .

Metabolic performance

Health defined as the absence of disease is a diagnostic convenience. Health defined by what your metabolism can actually do is the real thing. Here is the whole argument →

Too much sugar

You already know sugar is a problem. Nobody told you sports nutrition is made of it.

Gels, chews, drink mixes, bars, recovery shakes. An athlete following standard fueling guidance can take in more sugar in one long session than most people eat in a week — and it is sold as performance.

The performance cost

Riding a carbohydrate drip means every dip in supply becomes a dip in output. Bonking is not bad luck. It is a fuel system with a two-hour tank.

Evolutionarily, carbohydrates are a ‘fight or flight’ and ‘bridge’ energy source meant for short term metabolic needs. Used this way they not only work without long-term consequences but fuel positive metabolic adaptations.

Chronic use, however, results in metabolic derangement & hormonal imbalance making you ever more dependent upon higher amounts of glucose with eventual metabolic & athletic performance decline.

The gut cost

There is a ceiling on how much sugar (carbs) the gut can absorb under load. Race-day GI failure is usually the athlete hitting it.

Even if you currently do not experience GI issues from your diet & fueling the damage from consuming Too Much Sugar is still occurring.

There is a much greater long-term cost to a diet & fueling  high in carbohydrates which is why Stomach & Gut Health are the third tier of the OFM Pyramid.

The health cost

Decades of chronically elevated glucose and insulin do not get a pass because you train. Even athletes are not exempt from the metabolic consequences. . .

We’ve ‘normalized’ the energy swings (bonking/hitting the wall), the GI issues, the injury frequency and decline.

This is NOT normal and our athletes demonstrate how you can slow the aging and performance declines to a crawl.

The how

A catalyst and a system to get you to your potential.

Metabolic health & performance merge as a metabolic state attained through harnessing the available tools of diet, physical activity, supplements and lifestyle to achieve your metabolic potential.

There is no simple formula because each person is different.

It is not one thing but everything which makes achieving your health & performance goals complicated and daunting.

Fortunately, we’ve developed the products and program which give you a jump-start and a step-by-step roadmap to restoring your native physiology then developing your potential.

Our offerings are time tested (25+ years),  developed at the very pinnacle of sports & ultra-endurance competition and based upon an evolutionary biology model instead of modern life to deliver real world results.

VESPA
Product

VESPA

A metabolic catalyst in a naturally occurring peptide derived from the Giant Asian Wasp (known as the “Murder Hornets”) that signals your body to mobilize and metabolize fatty acids — sparing glycogen, flattening the glucose swings, and letting you fuel on what you are already carrying.

OFM
Program

OFM

Optimized Fat Metabolism (OFM) is a comprehensive and individualized system which periodizes nutrition and training while addressing nutritional gaps in the diet, the biome (Stomach & Gut Health), and metabolic challenges as a result of our  modern lifestyle in conjunction with the demands of training and competition.

OFM guides you to build the internal machinery. VESPA jump starts it.

Experience: With over 25 years of competition based field development across a variety of sports; ultra-endurance, triathlon, team sports, individual and tactical athletes, OFM and VESPA have yielded winning results in competition and longevity in sport.

The metabolic argument, in your language.

A ultra-endurance athlete (IronMan Triathlete / Ultrarunner / Adventure Racer) and a soccer  midfielder need the same metabolic edge yet the conversation is completely different.

Our solutions, properly applied to the mission and goals, deliver.

Pick your application to learn how establishing your metabolic foundation, then developing it gives you “The Metabolic Advantage”

Endurance & Ultra

You already suspect the gel-every-30-minutes plan is costing you.

Ultrarunners, triathletes, cyclists, and adventure racers were the first to prove OFM at distance. Fewer calories in, fewer GI blowups, steadier output at hour tenand a recovery you have to experience to believe is possible.

Team Sports

The second half of the game is a metabolic problem, not a conditioning problem.

Repeat-sprint sports run on a fuel system nobody coaches. Athletes who can access fat between efforts recover faster, retain their focus, fine motor skills and  speed deeper into a game or a tournament weekend.

Tactical & Occupational

Performance when resupply, sleep, and schedule are not yours to control.

Military, fire, and first responders need output that does not depend on eating on a schedule. Metabolic flexibility is operational resilience.

Health & Longevity

You do not have a disease. You also do not have your potential.

Most metabolic health advice stops at ‘your labs are normal.’ Metabolic performance asks a different question: how much capacity can you actually build?

Too much sugar

You already know sugar is a problem. Nobody told you sport nutrition is made of it.

Gels, chews, drink mixes, bars, recovery shakes. An athlete following standard fueling guidance can take in more sugar in one long session than most people eat in a week — and it is sold as performance.
“I finished on a fraction of the calories I used to force down — and I finished without a single stomach problem.”

Ultra Field · 100-mile trail

“The run stopped being damage control. Same watts on the bike, and I was still running at mile twenty.”

Ironman Field · Long-course triathlon

“Day three is where the sugar-fueled teams fall apart. That's where we start passing people.”

Adventure Racing Field · Multi-day expedition

Ask anything about metabolic health. Free.

Our AI is trained on the OFM body of work and the metabolic literature. Ask it why you crash at mile eighteen, what fat adaptation actually changes, or how to fuel a tournament weekend.

Want it personal? The paid tier builds an individualized optimization plan — with an OFM coach and physician oversight available.

You were not built to run on sugar every twenty minutes.
